What makes an effective leader?

During the winter at Valley Forge, our Continental Army faced dire conditions. Provisions were scarce, morale was low, and desertion was rampant. It was my duty to remain steadfast, sharing in the hardships of my men and demonstrating unwavering resolve. This commitment to endure alongside them, to not ask of them what I would not suffer myself, reinforced their trust and ultimately held the army together through that dark winter.

Indeed, to command effectively is not merely to issue orders, but to embody the very spirit one wishes to instill. A leader's true strength lies not in the power they wield, but in the depth of their understanding and empathy for those they lead. To share in hardship is to know the battlefield, and to know the battlefield is to win the war long before the first arrow is loosed.
